A journey of a million miles starts with a single step.
The steps you'll need to take on your journey to becoming a professional pilot involve acquiring the following licenses FRTOL, SPL, PPL, CPL and RTR AERO.
FRTOL and SPL - The Flying Training Organisations approved by DGCA are authorized to conduct the examination for issue of SPL (Student Pilot Licence) and FRTOL-R (Flight Radio Telephone Operators Licence - Restricted).
SPL is a prerequisite for flying is obtaining Private Pilot’s License and Commercial Pilot License. No flight experience is required to obtain SPL. The candidate must be at least 16 years old at the time of issue of his/her student Pilot’s License with a minimum qualification of 10th standard and certificate of medical fitness.
PPL - Minimum age of 17, Class 2 Certificate of Medical Fitness (licence valid for 24 months from date of issue), 40 hours of flying. With this licence a pilot can fly an aircraft carrying passengers or cargo but not for hire, reward or remuneration. (licence valid for 10 years from date of issue).
CPL - minimum age of 18, Class 1 Cerificate of medical Fitness (licence valid for 12 months from the date of issue), 200 hours of flying. A Commercial Pilot License holder can act as a Pilot in Command of any aircraft entered on his/her license. He/She can be employed as pilot in Government and civil airlines or in private/corporate companies/flying clubs and has a wide variety of career opportunities.
RTR (Aero) - Exam conducted by WPC, consisting of two parts :
Part one - Written + transmission

Below is the list of pre-requisites you will need before your journey begins.
1. PMR Number.
This is the number issued to you when you receive your initial class 2 medical assessment. In order to get your medical assessment, you must create an account on eGCA and follow the steps as mentioned there.
2. eGCA ID.
All the aviation services are available on this platform. Once you create your ID on https://dgca.gov.in/digigov-portal/ you will be able to access the services such as applying for you medical assessment, Issuance of your Licenses etc.
3. The Verification Letter.
The verification letter must be obtained from your respective board of education. This letter cannot be given directly to you and will only be issued if third-party requests it. E.g the flight school you wish to enrol from. The verification letter is very important and will be needed at several stages of your journey towards obtaining your CPL.
4. Computer Number.
This number is mandatory for you to give any of your exams. To apply for this, simply follow the instructions given on https://pariksha.dgca.gov.in/. Once you receive your computer number, you will be able to apply for the DGCA Exams for which we at AvianAirspace will coach you.
